Utah DOT: The Dangers of Texting While Driving

In this state to state video, the Utah Department of Transportation explores a true life example of how one Utah teenager’s experience of texting while driving resulted in the death of two men. Texting while driving is a relatively new traffic safety issue but it's a growing concern across the country. Utah enacted a new law banning texting while driving, but traffic safety advocates say that's only part of the solution. They're also calling for public awareness campaigns to reach the growing number of distracted drivers. In this video the widows of the two Utah victims provide a compelling look at how driving while texting can dramatically change the course of one's life. By creating this documentary, the Utah DOT hopes that drivers will realize the potential consequences of texting behind the wheel before someone else is hurt or killed.
