Minnesota DOT | Towards Zero Death Program
Toward Zero Deaths is a state-wide cooperative program designed to change the traffic safety culture in Minnesota. Leaders from Minnesota’s Department of Transportation, the Department of Public Safety and the Department of Health joined with the University of Minnesota’s Center for Transportation Studies to reverse the trend of increasing traffic fatalities. Since 2003, the program has helped to reverse the trend and to reduce traffic fatalities and serious injuries to a 45-year low. The cornerstones of TZD’s efforts are the Four E’s: Enforcement, Education, Engineering and Emergency and Trauma Services. This video was part of an awards ceremony in Washington D.C. when TZD won the 2009 Safety award from the International Road Federation.
